Baripada, Oct 4: An elephant, who accidentally fell into a well in Tembotola village within Bangiriposi range, was rescued by the forest officials in Baripada.
According to the sources, the elephant entered the human habitat from Similipal forest area in search of food and fell into the well on Sunday evening.
On being informed, the forest official reached the spot and rescued the elephant after a five-hour-long operation.
The rescued elephant has been redirected to the nearest forest. Forest staff have been asked to monitor the movement of animals in human habitations, said Santosh Joshi, Divisional Forest Officer.
