Elderly woman, grandson killed as truck runs over them in Keonjhar

Keonjhar, June 3: Two persons were killed after a speeding truck ran over them while they were standing infront of their home on Wednesday near Bankamaruni sahi on NH-20 under Keonjhar Sadar police limits in the district. The deceased have been identified as Sumitra Mohanta and her grandson Subham Mohanta of Palasapanga panchayat of Bankamaruni sahi. Sources said, the truck was en-route from Padmapur to Palasapanga when the driver lost control over the wheels and ran over them who were standing on the roadside, killing Subham on the spot while Sumitra was critically injured. She was rushed to Keonjhar DHH where doctor declared her dead. Being informed, the police reached the spot and seized the truck. The officials have started investigation into the matter. A pall of gloom descended in the village.
