Elderly man allegedly commits suicide over loan burden in Khordha

Khordha, May 11: A 62-year-old man allegedly committed suicide over loan burden at Barunei Ghat under Sadar police limits in the district, police said today. The deceased has been identified as Bijay Mohanty, a resident of the Chandaput village of Puri district. According to the police, Bijay was residing in Taratua village in the district and commenced his business from there. On May 4, he had last telephonic conversation with his sister in which he informed her about committing suicide at a unfunctional liquor shop. Subsequently, his sister and brother-in- law did a frantic search after the phone call but could not trace him. The forest personnel today spotted a body lying in the forest and informed the police officials. On being informed, the police reached and sent the body for postmortem. They further launched an unnatural death case and initiated a probe into the matter.
