Bhubaneswar: A barbaric incident has come to the fore in Cuttack where an elderly couple were killed in their house during sleep last night.

According to reports, the ghastly incident has occurred in Beleshwar village under the Madhupatna police station. After mercilessly killing the couple, identified as Shrinath Samal and Bidulata Samal, the miscreants fled from the spot.

While the exact reason behind the death was yet to be ascertained, police said some acquaints might have killed the couple. 

“It is suspected that some acquaints are behind the crime. Investigations are on,” said DCP Akhileswar Singh.
