Bhubaneswar, June 21: Amid the party’s nationwide agitations against Enforcement Directorate’s notices to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has summoned its nine MLAs from Odisha to New Delhi.
The Congress legislators are called to attend an important meeting with the party high-command in the national capital for which they are scheduled to leave for Delhi in the evening today, informed senior party leader and Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati on Tuesday.
The meeting is likely to witness a discussion on the party’s next strategy in connection with ED notices, sources informed.
“AICC secretary had called me and told me to inform all legislators to reach Delhi by 6 pm today. The ED notice to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is an attempt to create fear among the people of the five states that will go for polls soon. I think there will be an important meeting tomorrow,” informed Bahinipati.
For the unversed, Rahul Gandhi has been summoned on Tuesday, for the fifth time, by the ED for questioning in connection with a money laundering case linked to the National Herald-Associated Journals Ltd deal.
Till now, he has been questioned for about 40 hours by the anti-money laundering agency.
