The earthquake occurred at a depth of 5 km below the surface at latitude, 28.29 degrees north and longitude 72.21 degrees east, it said.
Earlier this month, on July 10, a strong earthquake hit Delhi-NCR early in the morning. The epicentre was near Gurawara in Haryana's Rewari district and the estimated magnitude of the quake was around 4.4 on the Richter scale. The tremors were felt around 9.04 am and lasted for a minute.
Delhi-NCR witnessed strong tremors on February 17 when a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck the region.
The NCS continues to monitor the situation, though no major damage or casualties have been reported from either quake.
