
Bhubaneswar, Sept 26: The Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack has issued a public notice outlining traffic restrictions for the upcoming Durga Puja festival. The restrictions will be in effect from September 27 to October 2, from 2 PM to 2 AM, to ensure public safety and convenience during the festivities.
In accordance with the provisions of the Odisha Urban Police Act-2003 and the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate Traffic and Public Order Regulations, the following traffic measures will be enforced:
Traffic Restrictions for Heavy Vehicles:
No heavy vehicles will be allowed on the following routes during the specified time:
· Rasulgarh Crossing to Lingipur Crossing and vice-versa via Bomikhal, Laxmisagar, Kalpana, Ravi Talkies, and Samantarapur Crossing.
· Vani Vihar Crossing to Sishu Bhawan Crossing and vice-versa via Rupali, Sataya Nagar, Ram Mandir, Master Canteen, and Rajmahal Crossing.
· Acharya Vihar Crossing to Kalinga Hospital Crossing and vice-versa via Sainik School Crossing.
· Acharya Vihar Crossing to New Airport Crossing and vice-versa via Nicco Park, Patel Marg, Housing Board, Rabindra Mandap, and AG Crossing.
· Jayadev Vihar to Nandankanan and vice-versa via Xavier, Kalinga Hospital, Damana, and Patia Crossing.
· Jayadev Vihar Crossing to Raj Bhawan Crossing and vice-versa via Behera Sahi and Sastri Nagar Crossing.
· CRP Crossing to Power House Crossing and vice-versa via Stewart School and Unit-8 DAV School Crossing.
· Fire Training School Crossing to Sishu Bhawan Crossing and vice-versa via Paika Nagar, Siripur, and Ganganagar Crossing.
· Khandagiri Crossing to Pokhariput Crossing and vice-versa via Jagamara and Gandamunda Crossing.
· Both side service roads of NH-16 from Baramunda to Palasuni.
Heavy goods vehicles coming from Khurda towards Cuttack will be diverted from Pitapali Square via Balikuda Square, Chandaka Square, and Baranga Square. Similarly, vehicles coming from Cuttack towards Khurda will be diverted via the same route.
Rayan Podi at Nayapalli will also see a shift in vehicular traffic. All vehicles coming from Cuttack side will be diverted from Jayadev Vihar to CRP Square or Fire Station Square, while traffic from CRP Square towards Jayadev Vihar will be redirected via Ekamra Kanana Road and Biju Patnaik College Road.
Buses coming from Puri towards Baramunda Bus Stand will not be allowed to ply inside the city. These will be diverted at Lingipur Square towards Hi-Tech Square via Kesura Square and Pandara Square.
Similarly, buses from Baramunda towards Puri will take the same diversion route.
Buses coming from Puri towards Cuttack will use the Bypass from Lingipur to Hi-Tech Chhak via Kesura Square and Pandara Square.
Buses from Cuttack towards Puri will follow the same route in the opposite direction.
Buses from Master Canteen Bus Stand will not be allowed to proceed towards Vani Vihar or Ravi Talkies Square and will be diverted to Acharya Vihar Square via Ram Mandir Square and Housing Board Square.
Buses coming to Lingaraj Mandir in the morning will be redirected towards Lingipur via Garage Chowk and Samantarapur Chowk, avoiding the Kalpana/Sishu Bhawan side.
The above restrictions will not apply to Police, Fire Brigade, Excise, Ambulance, and other emergency vehicles.
The Commissionerate Police has appealed to the public to plan their routes in advance and abide by the traffic regulations to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival. Violation of the traffic order is punishable under Section 96 of the Odisha Urban Police Act-2003.
In their message, the police have also urged the public to celebrate Durga Puja responsibly while maintaining safety and adhering to traffic rules for the well-being of all.
With these measures in place, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police aim to ensure that the Durga Puja festival is celebrated safely, with minimal disruption to public transport and traffic.
