Domestic dispute turns deadly: Seven-month-old girl killed by father

ccording to reports, Sanjay Chhatar (25), a native of Kudasahi village under Raruan police station in Mayurbhanj district, had been staying with his in-laws in Kantapal and working as a laborer. On Monday, a heated argument broke out between Sanjay and his wife Janani Munda (21), reportedly over his refusal to work and continued stay at his in-laws’ home. During the quarrel, when Janani questioned how the family would survive without his earnings, Sanjay lost his temper and violently threw their infant daughter, Rachana, to the ground.  The baby girl died on the spot.

Dhenkanal, June 3: In a horrifying incident, a father allegedly killed his seven-month-old daughter in a fit of rage stemming from a domestic dispute with his wife. The shocking event took place in Kantapal village, under Kankadahad police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, which is predominantly inhabited by tribal communities. The accused was later critically injured after being attacked by family members and is currently undergoing treatment.

According to reports, Sanjay Chhatar (25), a native of Kudasahi village under Raruan police station in Mayurbhanj district, had been staying with his in-laws in Kantapal and working as a laborer. On Monday, a heated argument broke out between Sanjay and his wife Janani Munda (21), reportedly over his refusal to work and continued stay at his in-laws’ home. During the quarrel, when Janani questioned how the family would survive without his earnings, Sanjay lost his temper and violently threw their infant daughter, Rachana, to the ground.

The baby girl died on the spot.

Enraged by the gruesome act, family members attacked Sanjay, striking him in the abdomen with a glass bottle, causing severe bleeding. He was first taken to Kamakhyanagar and later shifted to the Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. The Kankadahad police have reached the spot and are investigating the incident. A scientific team has been requested to assist in further investigation. Police have seized the body of the deceased infant girl. Station Officer Kalpana Behera stated that the incident occurred as a result of a family dispute.
