Puri, June 21: Divine marriage ritual is being performed in Shrimandir Puri today. Servitors will solemnize the nuptial knot of lord Krishna and goddess Rukmini on this auspicious occasion inside the temple. According to the ritual, Madanmohan Jew, the living representative of lord Jagannath will be worshiped as lord Shrikrishna today and Maa Laxmi as Rukmini. Subsequently, Maa Laxmi will worship deity Bimala in order to have lord Krishna as her Swami. Meanwhile, Shrikrishna will take away Devi Rukmini from the way to home in order to save her from the arrogance of Sishupala and Rukmana. Ultimately, Rukmini will be offered to lord Krishna in a grand ceremony at night where Rukmini and Srikrishna will get married according to the vedic rituals. The deities will exchange garlands with each other in a symbolic way before devotees and servitors in the evening. Notably, Rukmini Vibaha (marriage) is performed in the bright fortnight of Jeshta(June) month before the holy Snanajatra rituals (Deva Snana Purnima) inside Puri Jagannath temple.
