Puri, Aug 11: A dispute erupted in Puri after a social outfit carved Lord Jagannath on a cake and cut it at a function. People have sought an apology from the office bearers of the organization Sources said that a Puri-based social organization named Jay Jagannath Seva Samiti Trust had organized a function where a cake was cut on which Lord Jagannath, Nila Chakra (wheel installed atop Puri Jagannath temple) and Ramanandi Chita( a special drawing related to the Jagannath cult) were carved. Later, it was distributed among the volunteers present. A number of social organizations have raised their voices against it. The act has hurt the emotion and sentiments of the devotees of Lord Jagannath, they alleged demanding a public apology by the organization.
