Bhubaneswar: In a major development, the Central Government has granted permission for commencement of a direct Air India flight between Bhubaneswar and Surat from January 1, 2020.
Now, Bhubaneswar will soon have direct flight to Surat in Gujarat three days in a week. This was informed by Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi.
“Today, I’m delighted that my request to Civil Aviation Ministry to commence a direct AI flight between Bhubaneswar and Surat is granted.Will start from 1st January, 2020 (three days a week). Our Odia friends in Surat were wanting this. Grateful to @narendramodi @HardeepSPuri,” tweeted Sarangi.
Notably on July 22, Aparajita along with Surat MP Darshana Jardosh met Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and submitted a proposal to commence direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Surat.
In August 2018, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had also taken up the issue with the then Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu.
