Dilip Tirkey elected Hockey India president

Bhubaneswar, Sep 23: Former India captain and Olympian Dilip Tirkey has been elected as president of Hockey India. Tirkey, who had filed his nomination on Sunday, was declared Hockey India's president unopposed. He is currently serving as the chairman of Odisha Hockey Promotion Council. Tirkey had made his international debut in 1995 against England and represented India in three Olympics - Atlanta (1996), Sydney (2000) and Athens (2004). He has also represented India in several World Cups, Asian Games, Asia Cups and Champions Trophy. After his retirement from international hockey in 2010, Tirkey was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2012 on BJD ticket.
