Bhubaneswar, June 23: The diarrhea outbreak in Odisha is now under control, according to Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling. Speaking to the media, the minister assured that the state government is taking the situation seriously and has undertaken coordinated efforts across multiple departments to curb the spread.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has personally reviewed the response with officials from four key departments. Minister Mahaling informed that the number of new cases has declined, thanks to intensified awareness campaigns and swift health interventions. “The situation is gradually improving, but we urge people to remain alert and take necessary precautions,” he said.
As part of the preparations for the upcoming Rath Yatra in Puri, the Chief Minister also conducted a dedicated review to ensure public safety. To prevent any outbreak during the grand festival, the government has deployed 387 doctors and paramedical staff in the area.
Additional measures include the establishment of first-aid centers, deployment of ambulances, and arrangements to supply RO (Reverse Osmosis) purified drinking water to devotees and locals. Minister Mahaling emphasized that these proactive steps are crucial to safeguard public health during the large-scale religious event.
