Dhenkanal, Oct 16: This year, the Shri Shri Mahalaxmi Puja Committee in Kaibalya Bazaar is transforming its Laxmi Puja celebrations into a vibrant, eco-friendly festival. Committed to going green, the committee is eliminating plastic from every aspect of the festivities, setting a new standard for sustainability.

Highlighting their innovative spirit, the committee has chosen bamboo as the central theme for this year's decorations. Collaborating with skilled craftsmen from Kolkata, they’ve crafted stunning bamboo structures that will elevate the aesthetic of the prayer space. Approximately twenty bundles of bamboo were utilized to create a breathtaking display that promises to captivate devotees and visitors.

In addition to the beautifully adorned puja mandap, the committee plans to sell bamboo crafted things nearby, which is expected to draw significant interest. To further enhance the festive atmosphere, five elaborately decorated light gates lined up the main street of the bazaar, creating a stunning visual experience.

This year's celebration marks the 67th anniversary of the puja, which has featured a striking silver idol of Maa Laxmi since 2017. Weighing over one quintals and crowned with a 1 kg gold tiara, the idol stands as a centerpiece of devotion.

On October 24th, a special program will welcome around 3,000 devotees, including a Prasad distribution ceremony. The festivities will be enriched by traditional music from Andhra Pradesh, with a large ensemble from Bhashani and arrangements by the Berhampur Band, ensuring an unforgettable celebration of faith and community.
