Bhubaneswar, July 06: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday inaugurated the temporary campus of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jeypore and performed the groundbreaking ceremony for its permanent campus near Jagannath Sadar.
The school aims to deliver quality education to students in the region and empower them with the skills needed for a bright future, Pradhan stated.
Addressing a public meeting at Vikram Deb University in Jeypore, the minister highlighted the city’s rich cultural, commercial, and intellectual legacy, describing Jeypore as one of Odisha’s key centers of excellence. He paid tribute to Maharaja Vikram Deb Verma for his role in India’s independence and the formation of a separate Odisha state.
Pradhan noted that the demand for a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jeypore had existed for many years. Now, with an investment of nearly ₹40 crore, the long-awaited school is becoming a reality.
The Education Minister also informed that projects worth over ₹610 crore were inaugurated and launched at the Central University of Odisha in Koraput on Saturday. Under the PM SHRI Schools initiative, around 90 schools in the undivided Koraput district are being upgraded with nearly ₹200 crore in funding.
The PM USHA scheme has allocated ₹20 crore for Vikram Deb University, while the Odisha government has contributed ₹50 crore for the development of Kendriya Vidyalaya in the region. Additionally, the Central University in Koraput is being equipped with new laboratories, reinforcing the district's educational infrastructure.
Pradhan stressed the immense potential of the Koraput region, describing it as an area of great promise.
“Without the development of undivided Koraput, we cannot imagine a developed Odisha. And without a developed Odisha, the dream of a developed India remains incomplete,” he said.
