Dhamnagar by-election: Model Code of Conduct comes into effect

Bhadrak, Oct 5: Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in Odisha's Bhadrak district on Wednesday ahead of the Dhamnagar by-election scheduled on November 3. Bhadrak district Collector has issued notifications in this connection for the political parties. Earlier on Monday the Election Commission of India(ECI) had issued notification on the Dhamnagar by-poll following the demise of its MLA Bishnu Charan Sethi. According to the notification, the bi-poll to Dhamnagar assembly constituency in Odisha's Bhadrak district will be conducted on November 3. However, the specific gazette notification regarding it will be issued on October 7. The last date for filing nominations by candidates is October 14. Similarly, October 15 and 17 have been set as the date for scrutiny of nominations and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures respectively. Voting will be conducted on November 3 while November 6 has been fixed for the counting of votes and announcement of results. November 8 has been set as the date for the completion of the election process, read the notifications.
