Puri, May 12: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania visited Puri on Monday to review security arrangements ahead of the upcoming Snana Purnima and world-renowned Rath Yatra festivals.
Upon his arrival, the DGP proceeded to the Shri Jagannath Temple, where he offered prayers and took stock of the existing security infrastructure. In a bid to bolster temple security, an armed vehicle has been deployed at the premises of the main sanctum.
Following his visit to the temple, Khurania chaired a high-level review meeting at the office of the Puri Superintendent of Police (SP), where detailed discussions were held on festival preparedness. The meeting focused on various aspects including enhanced security, streamlined darshan procedures for devotees, and traffic management during the grand events.
Senior police officials, including Additional DGPs Sanjay Kumar, Amitabh Thakur, Dayal Gangwar, Praveen Kumar, Anup Sahoo, and Pinaki Mishra, attended the meeting. Puri SP Vineet Agrawal was also present during the review.
The visit comes as part of a series of preparatory measures being undertaken by the state police to ensure a safe and orderly celebration of the major religious festivals.
