Despite challenges, the teacher-student bond will thrive

Bhubaneswar, March 3: Try to learn from all situations using every opportunity because experience can be your best teacher, eminent Gyenaecologist and Dean of the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, Prof. Gangadhar Sahoo has said. Prof. Sahoo, who worked in the VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla for a long time, said he tried to learn from everybody. “While working as a doctor, I learnt from nurses, pharmacists and even patients,” he said while delivering the virtual second SOA Fortnightly Academic Lecture at the university on Saturday. Speaking on the subject ‘Student-Teacher Relationship-A Divine Gift’, Dr. Sahoo said punctuality, empathy and a selfless attitude in imparting knowledge to the students defined this bond and helped in building a bridge. “It is true that this relationship has taken a backseat in today’s materialistic and market-driven world. But it would always sustain because its basis is the divine trust that exists between the student and the teacher,” he said adding despite challenges, the teacher-student relationship would always thrive. Prof. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, and Dr. Nachiketa K. Sharma, SOA’s Program Coordinator of NSS, also spoke. Under the able leadership & guidance of its General Manager Shri Vidya Bhushan, East Coast Railway has achieved the remarkable performance. Apart from this, the Business Development Units of East Coast Railway integrating innovative policy making with stability and certainty in the logistics sectors by attracting new avenues for modal transit from rail to road.
