Bhubaneswar, May 2: Authorities on Saturday carried out a demolition drive in Salia Sahi, clearing 81 structures in Ekamra Villa Behera Basti under Ward No. 15, in line with prior notices issued to residents.

The eviction was undertaken to make way for a proposed parallel road. Houses, cattle sheds and a newly constructed temple were among the structures demolished.

Senior officials, including the BDA Joint Commissioner and Housing Board Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mohanty, were present at the site to supervise the operation.

Officials said rehabilitation measures had been initiated earlier, with around 70 affected families already allotted houses at Buddhavihar.
