New Delhi, October 12: The Delhi Police on Monday registered an FIR against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, party MLAs and senior leaders following a complaint filed by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) over an alleged disruption at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib.

According to the complaint, protesters allegedly disrupted the sanctity of the gurdwara premises and subsequently circulated selective and misleading video clips of the incident on social media.

Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case and launched an investigation into the allegations. The police said that the complainant had raised concerns over the alleged disruption at the religious site and the circulation of misleading content online.

The Delhi Police is examining video footage, CCTV recordings and social media posts as part of the investigation. The material is being subjected to technical scrutiny to identify those involved in the alleged incident, including the participants and organisers. Further details are awaited.

Earlier in the day, the Citizens for Fraternity Forum (CFF), an organisation comprising civil society representatives, wrote to the Delhi Police regarding the alleged disruption near Gurdwara Bangla Sahib during a protest.

In its letter, the forum urged the authorities to address the concerns raised over the incident and make the findings of the inquiry, along with any corrective measures, public.

“We expect the concerned authorities to address these serious concerns promptly and communicate the findings and corrective measures publicly,” the letter stated.

The forum also sent copies of the communication to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Harjit Singh Grewal, Chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities.

The police investigation is underway, and further information regarding the case is awaited.
