Bhubaneswar, May 8: Amid the demands for a change in Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) leadership and ahead of the general elections in 2024, a delegation of the state party leaders today left for New Delhi to meet the party high command.

The delegation includes senior Congress leaders Jayadev Jena, Chiranjib Biswal, Santosh Singh Saluja, Ramesh Jena, Suresh Routray, Mohammed Moquim. Later, OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik and senior leader Narasingha Mishra also left for New Delhi.

As per reports, they will meet Rahul Gandhi on Monday and discuss matters pertaining to the OPCC restructuring. Apart from this, Rahul is likely to discuss the road map for the 2024 general elections with the State leaders.

The Congress is in a weak position in Odisha.

“The meeting with the party high command in Delhi will focus on preparing a road map for 2024 general elections to revive the party in the state,” said former OPCC chief Jayadev Jena.

However, other senior leaders stated that decisions are likely to be taken to strengthen the party from the grassroots level and steer it towards victory in the upcoming polls. They also added that the appointment of new OPCC Chief solely depends on the high command.

Similarly, Chiranjeev Bishwal said it would be better if a youth becomes PCC president.

However, the party leaders calrified that whoever is made the OPCC chief they will accept and help him in making Congress stronger in Odisha.

Notably, Odisha Congress in-charge A Chellakumar had visited the state to take a report on the party’s position and changes in the OPCC. He had spent two days with all the legislators and senior leaders and has already submitted his assessment report to the high command.
