Kendrapara: The locals of Ramachandi area under Mahakalpada block, who were staging protest by blocking road after a patient died allegedly due to delayed ambulance service, withdrew the strike after Mahalkalpada tehsildar provided Rs 10,000 assistance to the kin of the deceased and assured of investigation into the alleged delay in ambulance service.
Notably, Nakhia Mallick was suffering from Tuberculosis for a long period of time. After his condition deteriorated yesterday, he was taken to Ramnagar Primary Health Centre where the doctor referred him to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
Though the family of the patient had called for 108 ambulance service for carrying him to the DHH last night, it did not turn up timely. And the patient died.
Angry locals staged the protest by putting the body in front of the ambulance demanding compensation for the family of the deceased.
