“Decades of public service left lasting imprint”: PM Modi meets LK Advani as he completes 25 years as head of government

New Delhi, October 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met veteran BJP leader LK Advani at his residence as he marked 25 years of continuous service as head of government, recalling Advani’s decades-long contribution to public life and the country’s development.

In a post on X, Modi said he sought Advani’s blessings and praised his role in strengthening India’s progress.

“Met Advani Ji at his residence and sought his blessings. His decades of public service and contribution to our national life have left a lasting imprint. He has played a pivotal role in strengthening India's progress,” Modi said.

Advani served as Union Home Minister from 1999 to 2004 in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government and was Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2004.

Modi completed 25 years as head of government on October 7, marking a political journey that began with his taking oath as Gujarat Chief Minister on the same day in 2001. He served as Gujarat Chief Minister until May 2014 before becoming Prime Minister in May 2014.

The milestone was marked by BJP workers across the country through ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabhas’ and torch rallies under the nationwide ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. Party workers pledged to contribute towards achieving the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.

In Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister and BJP leader JP Nadda attended a ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha’ in Greater Noida and later joined a torch rally with party workers, who took a collective pledge to work towards the goal of a developed India by 2047.

In West Bengal’s Medinipur, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said the nationwide programmes were aimed at highlighting the benefits of the government’s welfare initiatives and reinforcing the vision of building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.

Modi’s political journey in government began on October 7, 2001, when he assumed office as Gujarat Chief Minister. After more than 12 years in the state, he moved to national politics and became Prime Minister in May 2014, a position he has continued to hold.
