Death of elephants in Athgarh: Stern action against offenders

Bhubaneswar, June 29: Stern action will be taken against the offenders involved in the death of elephants in the Athgarh Forest Division, said Forest & Environment Minister, Pradip Kumar Amat on Tuesday. Responding to the media personnel on series of elephant's death, Amat said that an SIT probe has been ordered to unveil the mystery shrouded on the serial killing of elephants in the Athgarh forest. Accordingly. A team is investigating into the case. However, more teams will be assigned if found essential to assist the deployed team. At the same time, a gang of wildlife poachers have been arrested while a number of forest officials have been put under suspension. Further investigation is underway. Stringent actions will be initiated against the accused, who will be found guilty in the future, Amat added.
