Bhubaneswar, 17 July: The trauma care centre (TCC) of Dharani Dhar Medical College and Hospital (DDMCH), Keonjhar, in its first orthopaedic surgery today gave new lease of life to 10 year old child, Kshirod Jamuda.
Kshirod, met a road accident on 14 July evening near his village; and after first-aid treatment at Harichandrapur Community Heath Centre was referred to TCC of DDMCH.
On examination at DDMCH he was found to have low hemoglobin status for which he was given necessary treatment. After stabilisation, Kshirod was planned for trauma surgery today.
A team of experts comprising of Prof Ashok Kumar Nayak, Orthopaedics, Prof. Debashis Swain Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Dr Ananta Narayan Patra, and Medical Superintendent Prof Mahendra Kumar Nayak conducted the surgery successfully. After the surgical procedure, Kshirod is now under intensive care in trauma ICU for 24 hour observation. The treating physicians expressed satisfaction over clinical response of the child, and expected his quick recovery to normalcy. The faculty and staff of both the departments actively facilitated the process in a team spirit.
It may be pertinent here to mention that the TCC of DDMCH was set up under the joint aegis of Health and Family Welfare Dept and District Mineral Fund (DMF) of Keonjhar.
