Puri, July 29: Devotees visiting the Shree Jagannath Temple will face darshan restrictions on Wednesday as the sacred ‘Srimukha Shringar and Banakalagi rituals’ of Lord Jagannath are scheduled to be performed.

According to the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, public darshan will remain suspended from ‘6 PM to 11 PM’ during the ritual period. Devotees will not be allowed to have darshan while the Banakalagi ceremony is being conducted.

The special ritual will begin after the completion of the second Bhoga Mandap offering. The Dattamahapatra servitors will carry out the traditional ceremony on the holy idols of the deities.

Once the Banakalagi ritual is completed and the servitors leave the sanctum sanctorum, other rituals, including Singhasana Dhua (cleansing of the divine throne) and Mahasnan (sacred bathing ceremony), will be performed. Following the completion of these rituals, regular darshan for devotees will resume.
