Bhubaneswar: Former BJD vice-president and Paradip MLA Damodar Rout today announced his new political party Biju Samatakranti Dal’.
His decision did not come as a surprise as he had said earlier that a party will be formed to take on Biju Janata Dal. He had also made it clear that he will not contest the next elections on a BJP ticket or Congress or that of any other party.
Earlier, Rout said the name of the party will be declared by the end of October and it will be named after legendary leader Biju Patnaik.
Rout currently remains as an independent MLA after being expelled from the BJD by party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik September 12 over ‘anti-party activities’.
