Bhubaneswar, Oct 24: The Cyclonic Storm Dana, currently positioned over the east-central and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal, has intensified into a Severe Cyclonic Storm. It is located approximately 280 kilometers southeast of Paradip and 310 kilometers south-southeast of Dhamara.
Meteorologists predict that Dana will continue to move northwestward and is expected to make landfall on the coasts of northern Odisha and West Bengal, particularly between Puri and Sagar Island, near Bhitarkanika and Dhamara, during the night of October 24 to the morning of October 25, 2024. It is forecasted to hit as a severe storm, with wind speeds ranging from 100 to 110 kilometers per hour, gusting up to 120 kilometers per hour.

In anticipation of the storm, the weather agency has issued an orange warning for seven districts in Odisha, including the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, effective until 7 AM.
Residents of Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, and Puri can expect moderate to intense rainfall and thunderstorms, with winds reaching 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.
Authorities advise residents to remain vigilant and seek safer locations as the storm approaches.
