Bhubaneswar: A Central team is likely to visit Odisha next week to undertake a tour to cyclone-Titli affected districts, informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi today.
Sethi after attending a review meeting on relief and restoration in cyclone and subsequent flood said that a gratuitous relief of Rs 50 crore has been released for Ganjam and Rs 14 crore for Gajapati districts.
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today took stock of the relief and restoration measures in cyclone and subsequent flood affected districts at the State Secretariat.
Notably, 77 persons have been killed and three districts – Ganjam, Gajapati and Rayagada, were the worst affected in the cyclone which hit the Odisha coast on October 11 and subsequent flood caused under the impact of the cyclonic storm.
In the wake of the widespread destruction caused by Cyclone Titli, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on October 18 wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to release an interim assistance of Rs 1,000 crore for relief and restoration work.
