Bhubaneswar, Oct 23: In preparation for Cyclone Dana, Indian Railways has issued emergency helpline numbers for several districts in Odisha that are at high risk from the storm.
Additionally, dedicated war rooms established at the Railways' Headquarters in Bhubaneswar and Garden Reach (Kolkata), as well as at divisional offices in Khordha Road, Visakhapatnam, Sambalpur, Chakradharpur, Adra, Ranchi, Kharagpur, and Balasore. These emergency control rooms are now fully operational, equipped with 20 satellite phones to ensure uninterrupted communication, along with power backup.
Stations along the Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam corridor will be closely monitored due to a Red Alert issued for coastal areas. A close watch is being maintained over railway bridges, tracks, yards, and signaling systems to prevent damage from heavy rainfall and flooding. Train services may be controlled or stopped at various stations based on wind speed, with several services already canceled, diverted, or short-terminated to ensure passenger safety.
