Odisha Cancels Employee Leaves as Cyclone Dana Approaches

Bhubaneswar, October 20: In anticipation of a potential cyclone forming over the Bay of Bengal, expected to hit around October 23, the Odisha government has canceled all leaves of its employees. Cyclone Dana latest track forecast: IMD model predicts severe cyclonic storm, landfall between Gopalpur and Puri

The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Deo Ranjan Singh today announced this development.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the cyclone may impact the Odisha-West Bengal coast by October 24, leading to heavy rainfall across several regions.

Districts such as Puri, Ganjam, and Jagatsinghpur are expected to experience particularly heavy rainfall between October 23 and 25. 

The Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are on high alert, said SRC Deo Ranjan Singh.

A meeting with all district collectors is scheduled for tomorrow to assess preparedness in each district. 

The SRC has urged the public to stay vigilant and avoid spreading or believing in rumours.

 Fishermen have also been advised to avoid venturing into the sea until October 26.
