Cyclone Asani formation by May 8 evening, landfall likely on 10th

Bhubaneswar, May 6:The cyclonic flow over South Andaman Sea and its adjoining region that formed a low-pressure region on Friday morning is likely to intensify into a depression on May 7 and then into a cyclonic storm by May 8 evening, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday. “The Low Pressure area over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal is very likely to move northwestwards, intensify into a Depression by May 7 evening and further into a cyclonic storm by May 8 evening,” regional meteorological centre tweeted. “It is very likely to continue to move northwestwards and reach Westcentral Bay of Bengal off North Andhra-Odisha coasts by May 10,” the regional meteorological centre added. Besides, the collectors of 18 districts have been asked to undertake all measures and stay prepared. As many as 17 NDRF, 20 ODRAF and 175 fire services teams are on high alert.
