Cyber fraud: Man loses Rs 2 lakh calling customer care desk

Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: A man from Bhubaneswar has lost Rs 2 lakh after calling a customer care desk on Saturday. Cyber fraudsters have duped the amount after he dialed a fake site hosted in the name of SBI. Sources said Akshaya Kumar Patra, a native of the Khandagiri area in Bhubaneswar googled for the SBI customer care number. He dialed the number shown on the site in order to sort out his problem regarding his account. However, Akshay got a message that an amount of Rs 2 lakh was debited from his account. Following this, Akshaya filed a complaint with the Khandagiri police, in this connection. Investigation is underway to reach at the fraudsters, said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Umashankar Dash.
