
Bhubaneswar, October 8: Commissionrate Police have detained more than 80 individuals for questioning in connection with the recent violence during Durga Puja idol immersion in the Dargha Bazar area.
Reports indicate that authorities are utilizing advanced AI software to scan hundreds of social media accounts on platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. The police are scrutinizing videos that depict anti-social elements vandalizing shops, setting fires, and throwing stones at law enforcement. Both the rioters and those who posted or shared these videos are being identified through the footage and account details. Authorities have also reached out to Facebook and Instagram, requesting the removal of certain videos from these accounts.
Based on solid evidence gathered from these investigations, some suspects have already been arrested, while others are still being interrogated. It has been confirmed that at least 83 individuals are currently being held in various police stations for questioning. To further assist in the probe, the cyber police and special squad are actively analyzing video footage to identify the perpetrators.
While some sources suggest that the number of arrests could surpass 20, cases have been filed not only at Dargha Bazar police station but also at other police stations across the city, including the cyber police station.
Police have issued a stern warning that those involved in the violence will not be spared, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing to ensure that all responsible individuals are brought to justice.
