Cuttack, Feb 10: The Cuttack district administration on Wednesday directed to shut Sun Hospital in Cuttack city after the hospital authorities failed to advance satisfactory explanations on the fire mishap.
District Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani informed that the hospital was operating without fire safety license and it has been shut for a temporary period. “ No patients will be treated or any medical tests will be done here,” the collector said.
A major fire broke out at a private hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack city on February 1. A total of seven fire tenders were pressed into service to tackle the blaze in the multi-storey building of Sun Hospital. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
All patients were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital and other health facilities in ambulances, said an official.
A fire official informed that the hospital did not have a fire safety license.
“We had conducted an inspection of the hospital. Besides, a mock drill was conducted recently. We had asked the hospital authorities to comply with fire safety norms,” said the official.
