Cuttack, April 20: A man was arrested by Mangalabag police in Cuttack for allegedly killing his transgender lover, who died while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Tara Sahu, while the accused was identified as Pratap Das.
According to reports, Pratap was in relationship with Tara and the duo was living together. However, relationship took an ugly turn after a verbal fight broke out between the live-in couple. Pratap lost his cool and set Tara on fire by pouring kerosene on her on March 31.
Soon the local residents rescued Tara and rushed her to SCB Medial College and Hospital. On April 9, Tara succumbed to the burn injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
“ Pratap had developed relationship with Tara. Later, the duo started living together. On March 31, a verbal fight broke out between the live-in couple after Pratap asked Tara for money,” informed the police at a presser.
Irked over Tara’s refusal to give money, Pratap poured kerosene on the latter and set her on fire, the police said.
