Kendrapara: The Kendrapara district administration today clamped curfew in Kendrapara town as fresh violence erupted in the area.
Kendrapara Sub-Collector Sanjay Kumar Mishra said that the curfew will be in force till 8 am on Friday.
The curfew was imposed as fresh violence was erupted today between two groups despite the Rashtriya Suraksha Manch was observing a 12-hour bandh.
On Wednesday, the district administration had clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 in the town following a group clash that erupted during Netaji Jayanti celebration at Kendrapara Government High School Ground.
Today, educational institutions have been closed and internet services have been suspended in Kendrapara town today even as the prohibitory order under section 144 of CrPC has remained in force due to tension triggered by group clash.
Business establishments have also been shut in sensitive areas in the township.
Police conducted flag march last night and appealed to the people to maintain peace and not to believe any rumours.
