CUO organizes awareness on 'Fire Fighting and Evacuation Techniques'

Koraput, July 16: The Central University of Odisha organised an awareness programme on 'Fire Fighting and Evacuation Techniques' with the help of State Fire Services on Thursday for the security guards of the University. Devi Prasad Dash, Station Officer of the Semiliguda Fire Station along with his team discussed on the different theories of fire fighting and demonstrated the different techniques on this programme. Prof. I Ramabrahmam, Vice-Chancellor of the University conveyed his best wishes for a successful programme and hoped the security guards who are working day and night to safeguard the University will enhance their fire fighting skills to meet any kind of fire disaster in the campus. Dr. Phagunath Bhoi, Public Relations Officer delivered the welcome address. Pradeep Kumar Samantray, Security Officer of the University coordinated the programme. Dash highlighted about the fire, types of fire, extinguishing techniques and use of fire extinguishers when the fire took place in his interaction. He said “we don’t know when and where fire will be taking place. So we must follow certain guidelines/tricks/preparedness to avoid any kind of fire eventualities and we must be aware and equipped to meet the eventualities”. He demonstrated many fire fighting techniques and the use of fire extinguishers.
