CS asks to remain prepared for possible third wave

Bhubaneswar, Nov 28: Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra on Sunday directed the district Collectors, SPs, and CDMOs to remain prepared for the possible third wave. Amid the emergence of new Covid variant Omicron, he directed to emphasis more on door-to-door vaccination and to ensure strict action against Covid norm violators. The Chief Secretary discussed with the district officials through video conferencing. The Chief Secretary advised all the block officials, ward members, Anganwadi, and health workers to gather ground reports of covid infection in their respective areas and immediately take action if signs of Covid spread are seen. The authorities should accelerate the vaccination process by starting door to door vaccination campaign and strictly implement all the guidelines like usage of masks and hand sanitizers, said Mohapatra. Additional Chief Secretary (Health) RK Sharma also alerted the authorities regarding a new Covid variant Omicron that has emerged in South Africa. Mohapatra has also asked the authorities to simplify the process of providing monetary compensation to the family members of people who died of Covid-19.
