CRPF Jawans build temporary bridge to rescue flood-trapped villagers in naxal-affected Bijapur

Bijapur, Sept 3: In the absence of proper roads and with rivers and streams overflowing due to heavy rains, villagers in remote regions have become completely cut off. While the people of these inaccessible areas remained waterlogged and stranded, CRPF jawans emerged as real-life saviors, constructing a temporary bridge using wooden planks and bamboo across a flooded stream.

This remarkable scene unfolded in Bijapur district, located on the Chhattisgarh-Malkangiri border, a region heavily affected by Naxalite activities. The bridge was built in the Gangloor area of Bijapur to connect Palnar with the remote village of Todka, where no proper road access exists.

The CRPF personnel constructed the temporary hanging bridge over a large drainage channel on a muddy path, using locally available materials and swift engineering. Previously, Naxals themselves used to build such makeshift structures for their own movement. Now, in a shift towards development and public service, security forces are creating such infrastructure for the benefit of local villagers.

This initiative by the CRPF is aimed not just at easing movement for ordinary villagers, but also to ensure access for teachers, healthcare workers, and Anganwadi staff who serve these remote communities.

The visuals of this effort showing jawans braving the terrain to ensure a lifeline for the people have gone viral and become a symbol of hope and support in one of India’s most challenging regions.
