Cpt Amarinder Singh announces alliance with BJP for upcoming Punjab polls

Chandigarh, Dec 17: Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday has announced his alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections, scheduled next year. Singh, who formed his new party ‘Punjab Lok Congress’ after resigning from the Punjab’s Chief Minister post, met with the Union Minister and Punjab BJP incharge Gajendra Singh Shekhawat today following which he formally announced his alliance with BJP. "We are ready and we are going to win this election. The decision on seat sharing will be taken on the seat-to-seat basis, with winnability being the priority. We are 101% sure of winning this election," Amarinder said. Meanwhile Union Minister, Shekhawat did not make any revelation about the seat sharing among the parties and said that the seat sharing will be done in appropriate time. "After 7 rounds of talks, today I confirm that BJP and the Punjab Lok Congress are going to fight the upcoming Punjab assembly elections together. Topics like seat sharing will be discussed later," said the Union minister. Singh had made it clear that his party will join hands with BJP is the Center repeals the Farm laws following which The Centre, in a surprise move, announced its decision to take back the farm laws on the day of Gurupurab, thus paving the way for the alliance.
