Covid-19 second wave unlikely in Odisha: Dr Jayant Panda

Bhubaneswar, Dec 5: There is little chance of a second Covid-19 wave in the state, informed Dr Jayant Panda, Technical Spokesperson of the State Health Department today. Panda, however, urged the people to remain cautious till a vaccine against the disease comes to the market. “The state so far has been able to tackle the disease effectively as compared to other states. Several major festivals were also not observed with fanfare which contributed immensely in bringing down the graph,” said Panda while talking to reporters on the sidelines of unveiling of website of Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital. He further said that the number of daily Covid-19 cases has decreased significantly in last few weeks. “People need to be careful at least till February or until a vaccine is available in the market. We have found a majority of population of developing Covid-19 antibodies during past sero surveys,” added Panda. The total Covid-19 caseload of Odisha reached 3, 20,803 on Saturday with detection 409 new cases. The state has 4,320 active cases with 3, 14,665 recoveries so far.
