Dehradun, Jan 11: In the wake of rising Covid-19 cases across the country, the Haridwar district administration has put a complete ban on devotees entering and taking the holy dip at the ‘Har ki Pauri’ on ‘Makar Sankranti’.
A night curfew has also been imposed between 10 pm to 6 am on January 14.
This decision was taken on an account of a huge gathering that is anticipated on the occasion of ‘Makar Sankranti’ on January 14.
Every year a large number of devotees take a holy dip in the Ganga River at ‘Har Ki Pauri’ ghat on the occasion of ‘Makar Sankranti’.
Despite rising Covid-19 cases, Haridwar still is jam-packed with pilgrims.
Night curfew was already imposed in the state. However, last week the state cabinet decided to extend the night curfew timings by an hour.
It had also issued directions to take stringent action against those not following COVID-appropriate behavior including social distancing, usage of masks and sanitizers.
