COVID-19 impact: Amarnath Yatra will not be held this year

New Delhi, July 21: In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, the authorities have announced to cancel Amarnath Yatra this year. “Based upon the circumstances, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board decided that it is not advisable to hold and conduct this year’s Shri Amarnathji Yatra and expressed its regret to announce the cancellation of Yatra 2020,” said Raj Bhavan, Government of Jammu & Kashmir. However, there were reports that the Amarnath Yatra will start in the month of July in a phase-wise manner. According to ANI, the Amarnath Shrine board will conduct live telecast of the darshan in the morning and aarti in the evening for the pilgrims.
