Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is on an action mode to combat coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The BMC has taken over various government and private colleges in the city for making quarantine wards. The beds would be set up at ITER, KIIT, Krupajal Engineering College and some other private colleges, including four hostels of OUAT.
The BMC said the number would be increased based on the need for quarantine.
Similarly, today BMC has distributed food to the poor, sick, helpless and labourers from outside states in various places. Free food was distributed to the poor and out-of-state workers in Haat-1, Market-4 Building, Satyanagar, Rupali Chowk, Krishi Bhawan, Rasulgarh and Laxmisagar areas today.
It was chaired by Zonal Deputy Commission Anshuman Rath and Additional Commission Lillan Prasad Shah.
However, the BMC has again issued a toll-free number today for emergency assistance. During the lockdown, the BMC has appealed to call 1927 for any emergency assistance. However, for the home delivery of groceries, 28 malls and stores have already been added to the BMC. Some smaller stores have also agreed to provide the service.
