<strong>Country bullet recovered from elephant’s carcass in Sambalpur</strong>

Sambalpur,June 23: A country bullet has been recovered from the elephant’s carcass which died during treatment in Sambalpur. It was revealed during the postmortem of the pachyderm on Thursday. According to the Sambalpur DFO, an elephant had barged into the village pond near the Kendrapat forest after it was fired by poachers. The forest officials undertook its treatment with the help of veterinarians and wildlife experts. However, the elephant died due to the gunshot despite an intensive care. Meanwhile, the veterinary team extracted a country bullet from the elephant’s body during the postmortem conducted today. Acting on it, two poachers have been arrested in this connection. A country gun along with other incriminating materials have been seen in their possession, said the DFO in a press briefing.
