Corona scare: Three daughters perform father’s last rite with admin’s aid in Ganjam

Ganjam, July 18: Three daughters have performed their father’s last rite with the help of the administration at Langaleswar village under Khallikote block in Ganjam after no one came forward to touch the body fearing Corona infection. Khallikote Tehsildar Rajkishore Pattnaik along with the NAC sanitation team cremated the body at the village crematorium ground. Sources said Tukuna Sura(54) succumbed to Coronavirus on Saturday after a long time of treatment in a private hospital at Bhubaneswar. Subsequently, his body was carried to Langaleswar for the last rites. The family members sought the help of the neighbours and relatives. However, no one touched the body apprehending contamination of Coronavirus. As no one came forward to lend a shoulder, three daughters prepared themselves to carry the body to the graveyard. Meanwhile, the Tahsildar Khallikote was informed about the incident. Consequently, the Tehsildar rushed to the spot with some sanitation workers of Khallikote NAC and carried the body for cremation at Pendurapalli crematorium.
