Controversial Godman Ram Rahim gets 20 days parole ahead of Haryana polls

Chandigarh, Oct 1: Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the controversial Dera Sacha Sauda chief, has been granted a 20-day parole, marking his 11th parole or furlough in the last four years. 

This parole comes just ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections on October 5, 20242. However, he is barred from entering Haryana and participating in any political or election-related activities, even on social media.

Ram Rahim sought parole to observe the death anniversary of his father, Maghar Singh, on October 5, which is observed as Parmarthi Diwas. 

 The Election Commission approved his parole with specific conditions to ensure he does not influence the elections.

His frequent paroles, often coinciding with elections, have sparked significant controversy and objections, particularly from Anshul Chhatrapati, the son of slain journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati
