Consumer Court case filed against Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan over Mountain Dew Ad

A consumer court case has been filed against Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, PepsiCo Advertising Council over a Mountain Dew advertisement, alleging misleading claims.

Bhawanipatna, Jan 16: A consumer court case has been filed against Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, PepsiCo Advertising Council over a Mountain Dew advertisement, alleging misleading claims. The case was registered at the Kalahandi District Consumer Court following a complaint by Deepak Dubey of Khariar.

According to the complaint, Dubey alleged that his son was influenced by the Mountain Dew advertisement featuring the two film stars and insisted on purchasing the soft drink. The advertisement reportedly claimed that consuming the beverage would increase physical strength and ensure victory in races. However, the complainant stated that these claims proved to be false after his son consumed the drink.

The complainant further alleged that advertisements featuring popular film stars have a strong impact on children and can mislead them into believing exaggerated claims. On these grounds, he approached the consumer court seeking action against the actors, PepsiCo, and the Advertising Council.

The first hearing in the case was held on the 22nd, while the next hearing is scheduled for January 19. Notably, the complainant has sought symbolic compensation of Re 1. Advocate Amit Jain is representing the Advertising Council, Aneesh Pattnaik is appearing on behalf of Salman Khan, and Kunal Behera & Associates are representing Hrithik Roshan and PepsiCo.
