Bhubaneswar: The Congress will hold farmers’ rally in front of all district headquarters across Odisha on January 8, informed Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik.
Notably, the ruling BJD is also organising a mega farmers’ convention in New Delhi on the same day.
The BJD will organise a Delhi Chalo movement demanding implementation of the Swaminathan Committee report, enhancement of MSP, and exposing the NDA government’s ‘great betrayal’ of farmers by staging protests in the national capital on January 8.
However, describing the BJD and the BJP as two sides of the same coin, the Congress president said that neither the State nor the Centre is worried about the welfare of farmers. The two parties have failed to keep their promises made to them in their poll manifestoes, he alleged.
